World class Defence Organisation based in Bristol and Stevenage is currently looking to recruit a Simulation and Modelling Engineer (Matlab and/or Simulink experience required).
The candidate must be eligible for UK MoD clearance for access to the appropriate security level.
The contract is initially for 12 months (ongoing after).
The rate on offer is negotiable.
Job Description:
Simulation and Modelling Engineers are required to fulfil existing and future contracts in the development of some of the worlds most advanced future defence systems. The Organisations Simulation & Modelling Engineers have a proven track record in understanding and designing complex weapon systems to meet demanding customer needs. The companies’ key goal is to ensure the technical excellence of Simulation & Modelling Engineering activities in the project teams, within the constraints of business goals, budgets and timescales.
Typical duties would include:
- Prepare a full range of specifications, develop designs in line with demanding customer specifications.
- Carry out a full range of technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options.
- Carry out investigations into a full range of problems, issues or developments and develop and prepare solutions, individually or as a member of a project team.
Academic Qualifications:
An appropriate Engineering Degree or Masters e.g. Systems or Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent.
Experience Requirements:
Proven track record in the following:
- Requirements capture including interface definitions
- Simulation & Modelling
- Matlab and preferably also Simulink
Ideally will have knowledge and experience of the following:
In addition the successful candidate will:
- have an understanding of and an ability to work within defined processes
- have the ability to visualize and analyse complex systems
- have good verbal, presentation and written communication skills
- have practical knowledge of basic systems engineering principles and processes.
- be able to work with engineering teams, including in-house and contractor personnel
- be pro-active and be capable of working on their own initiative with a minimum of supervision
- have experience in applying systems engineering practices to large hardware/software development efforts, preferably in an Aerospace, Naval or military program environment
- have good working experience in more than one phase of the engineering life cycle, with sufficient experience of the total life cycle to ensure a good understanding of adjacent phases and through-life engineering issues
