Technical Assistant
Type: Contract

Description:

World class Defence Organisation based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire is currently looking to recruit a Technical Assistant on an initial contract of 6 months and then ongoing after that point.

The candidate must be eligible for UK MoD clearance for access to the appropriate security level.

The rate on offer is negotiable.

Job Description:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

50%
The KM&I organisation is a small multinational team. The objective of Knowledge Management is to establish & embed a knowledge sharing culture across the company by developing methods & tools to encourage, promote, capture and access knowledge and skills.

The Technical Assistant will help the Head of KM (and future team members in France & Italy) to organise, implement and assess activities.

50%
To support the Innovation Office:

  • Primarily in the back office activities of the Innovation Office including the logistical organisation and booking of all Innovation Office events including Boosters, Workshops, Training and other facilitated type sessions. Other one off Innovation related events will need to be organised in line with programme demands.
  • Secondly in the conduct of any technical support activities that may be identified by the Innovation Office in terms of business administration and up-to-date record keeping activities including database entry and administration as the need arises.
  • Assist team members in accessing, managing and presentation of information. This may include innovation scheme Management data if time allows.
  • The review, maintain and update of Innovation Office planning process documents will be a further opportunity for the candidate.

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Good understanding and ability to use MS Office tools, especially Word, Power Point and Excel. Use of tools such as WSS, MOSS, Excel and PowerPoint will be involved
  • Must be a team player, happy to liaise with all project participants at all levels of the organisation and a positive attitude towards resolving individuals issues.
  • The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the principles of configuration control and of databases. The ideal candidate will be comfortable communicating in both written and verbal form, and happy to work with all team members. The individual may have to organise events including facilities and equipment as well as people.
  • A business admin background is advantageous, but not essential as the role is initially office based with on the job experience available later in the role.
    Analysis: Capturing statistics and organising them into an easily understandable format for presentation
  • Language skills: Speaking French or Italian is not essential but it would be an advantage: there will be opportunities to practice skills.
  • Initiative & Forward Thinking: The individual must be competent to work with minimal supervision, following direction.
