Highly successful defence organisation based in Bristol is currently looking to recruit two Principal Engineers (Propulsion and Aerodynamics). (Please indicate which position you would be interested in applying for).
The candidate must be eligible for UK MoD clearance for access to the appropriate security level.

Principal Engineer (Propulsion) Job Description:
- Provide support to the APL Bristol Proximity Manager, Propulsion Technical Expert and Project CDEs as required
- Responsible for planning, conducting and reporting on the propulsion design (air breathing or solid rocket), study and test related activities across a number of projects
- Support the design of the propulsion subsystem by working with the appropriate programme to understand requirements and liaise with suppliers to identify the solution
- Conduct research into ways of improving the integration of propulsion subsystems onto guided weapon systems
- Conduct research into the prediction of future trends in guided weapon propulsion technologies
- Degree qualified or equivalent
- Significant knowledge of either air-breathing or solid rocket propulsion technologies relevant to guided weapons
- Working knowledge of associated technologies and advance
- Experience of using propulsion tools - engine checks or rocket propulsion codes
- Project management experience
- Able to deal with multiple issues, tasks and priorities
- Analytical and problem solving skills
Principal Engineer (Aerodynamics) Job Description:
- Provide support to the APL Bristol Proximity Manager, Aerodynamics Technical Expert and Project CDEs as required
- Responsible for planning, conducting and reporting on the airframe and aerodynamics prediction, design test related activities across a number of projects
- Support and undertake certificate of design analysis
- Support and undertake semi-empirical and wind tunnel analysis as required
- Support the design of the airframe by working with the appropriate programme to understand requirements and liaise with subsystem teams to identify the solution
- Conduct research into ways of improving the integration of CFD techniques into the airframe design process
- Conduct research into the prediction of future trends in CFD and related technologies
- Degree qualified or equivalent
- In-depth knowledge of CFD with a good knowledge of other aerodynamic prediction and measurement techniques. Likely to have a working knowledge of associated technologies
- Project management experience
- Able to deal with multiple issues, tasks and priorities
- Analytical and problem solving skills
