Business Development Executive

Description:

Highly successful Defence Organisation based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire is currently looking to recruit a Business Development Executive.

The candidate must be eligible for UK MoD clearance for access to the appropriate security level.

The salary on offer is between £45k - £55k + Outstanding benefits.

Job Description:

To lead the 100kg as part of the Team CW approach to transforming the UK Service and Attack sector, gaining commitment from key stakeholders to achieve an acceptable Through Life Capability for UK MoD, and to secure orders in line with the Business Plan

Duties include:

  • Achieving Orders - To provide a specific campaign inputs to the ISBP and to secure the Orders identified in the ISBP.
  • Customer Focused Relationships – As part of the UK SBD team to act as the Customer’s Champion and nominated UK customer interface (Sponsor and DE&S) for the 100kg campaign, making it easy for the customer to do business with by creating the right customer relationships and by helping the customer develop the most acceptable Through Life Capability Solutions in the evolving TCW Partnership. Specifically:
    • Building and maintaining strong, open, honest, trusting and productive relationships with customer stakeholders, ensuring that we understand customer issues and needs and help them in shaping their Through Life Capability requirements.
    • Championing the customer's needs within the company, articulating customer’s requirements and issues within our Campaign plans and ensuring that we develop affordable customer focused, Through Life Capability Solutions.
    • Ensuring that proposals and information that is provided to the customer is of high quality, accurate, professional and properly addresses the customers request and needs.
    • Optimising our communications with our customer stakeholders, ensuring that we communicate in a clear, focused, open, proactive, effective and timely manner that is targeted at the right customer stakeholders.

  • Collaborative Working - To establish and maintain an appropriate collaborative approach with our customers and with our industrial partners and supply chain, were we all share our vision, goals and strategy, work in an open transparent manner and seek mutually beneficial win / win outcomes.
  • Leadership / Team-working - To provide leadership to Bid Teams and Campaign including:
    • Providing the Bid Team with a clear common understanding of the vision, strategy and solution for the campaign and for how the Bid Team and campaign are to be organised i.e. roles and responsibilities, schedule, tendering budgets etc
    • Providing focus, timely decision making and direction to the Bid Team "i.e. the drum beat"
    • Promoting and maintaining effective team working by displaying and encouraging positive behaviors, challenging negative behaviors, resolving conflicts, protecting the team from adverse internal and external influences, motivating the team to achieve its goals, utilizing people effectively and providing appropriate levels of empowerment to the Bid Team.

  • Innovation - To act as the internal agent of change for all specific related new business and associated customer / industry relationships including:
    • Demanding the best solutions for the customer no matter where they come from.
    • Seeking out and promoting best practice both internally and externally.
    • Challenging perceived attitudes and opinions encourage creativity and experimentation of new ideas (technical / commercial and behavioral) and encourage calculated risk taking.

Experience required:
  • Extensive knowledge & experience of missile systems business and industry.
  • Extensive understanding and experience of dealing with UK Customer community, organisation and processes including current changes resulting from DIS / TCW/DCAP and the 2008-2012 DE&S Business Strategy.
  • Broad and in-depth business, technical, commercial and background and experience.
  • Demonstrated business winning skills including:
    • Requirements analysis & capture (stated / not stated)
    • Strategy development
    • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and the application of Relationship Management Plans and Customer Stakeholder Management
    • Collaboration and Partnering techniques
    • Proposal Writing
    • Lobbying and promotion of bids
    • Negotiating and closing deals.

  • Leadership, communication and man management skills in running, organising and motivating multi-functional, multi-organisation and multi-national High Performing Teams.
