Description:

Role Purpose: Purpose: To assist in the design and development of Microwave and RF products.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Acting as a team member to carry out a full range of Microwave and RF Engineering and design activities in accordance with all relevant processes, standards and requirements, such as:
  
  • Designing, developing and testing microwave sub-modules and oversee their transition into series production
    
  • Produce and maintain design and test documentation associated with microwave design, including design specifications, development test schedules, procurement specifications, test result sheets
    
  • Contribute to “make/buy” decisions by providing technical input as part of a cross functional team involving manufacturing, procurement and commodities departments.
  
  
• Participate in design reviews by providing design reports and taking ownership of actions arising from the review
  
• Manage microwave suppliers and liaise with sales representatives, whilst creating good robust relationships
  
• Provide required support to Projects and to other Functions in a timely manner
  
• Support new business opportunities by providing plans and cost estimates for the microwave hardware that is being proposed
  
• Carry out technical investigations to provide data for problem assessment and design improvements and support development of solutions to technical issues
  
• Interface with internal customers and create robust relationships
  
• Share best practice and knowledge with other team members by providing technical input to monthly functional team briefs
  
• Contribute to engineering team decisions by taking part in design reviews and sharing ownership of the design so as to ensure that the optimum design solution is achieved on time and on cost.

• Be able to make decisions and show an appreciation of engineering design trade offs
  
• Ability to challenge customer requirements and offer realistic alternative solutions

• Knowledge and experience gained in radar or microwave design and development
  
• Knowledge of microwave design tools e.g. Agilent ADS or HFSS
  
• Knowledge of microwave antennas and analogue electronic product design
  
• Ability to diagnose hardware problems by understanding design and manufacturing issues
  
• Ability to produce written reports and presentations to internal customers
  
• Ability to manage small projects
  
• Ability to deliver required output within agreed timescales
