Description:
Highly successful Defence Organisation based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire is currently looking to recruit a Principal Cost Forecaster.
The candidate must be eligible for UK MoD clearance for access to the appropriate security level.
The salary on offer is between £32k - £40k + Outstanding benefits.
Description:
This role may suit an individual with a strong background in engineering looking for an opportunity to develop or strengthen their financial and commercial awareness.
Duties include:
- Work with Technical and Programmes Directorates to produce Whole / Through Life Cost analysis as part of contractual deliverables from Customer funded Study contracts, thereby informing Customer decision making and supporting Business Strategy for current and future CW requirements.
- Conduct Product Should / Target Cost studies and Competitor Analysis on behalf of SBD and Programmes Directorate in support of the B1 (Win Business) Process enabling the company to make informed Bid no Bid decisions with regards to validity of cost / price and technical solution to meet Customer requirements.
- Conduct Trade Off studies and Risk Modeling in support of TCW Budget Pipeline Management and other Business Strategies, contributing to the management and delivery of UK CW Military Capability through TCW, and continuously demonstrating that the organisation gives Value for Money in a non competitive contracting environment.
- For 1-3 above ensure that:
- Use is made of the appropriate methodologies, tools, models, cost breakdown structures and that assumptions are accurately recorded.
- The data is valid, properly prepared, and reflects the collected experience of the organization.
- All risks are properly understood and objectively presented.
- Ensure good quality calibrated product cost data is available in the Parametric Tools (Price H).
- Provide advice to and influence bid and project teams in the use and interpretation of cost and risk modeling data, ensuring the Business recognises cost as a high profile parameter in developing business strategies. Actively support resolution of any subsequent actions.
- Promote and deliver best practice in use and application of parametric and other estimating methodologies and support the development and maintenance of the associated systems, processes and tools.
Experience required:
- Experience of best practice / benchmark costing and pricing methodologies.
- Strong analytical skills
- Experience of UK MoD Customers Organisation & Acquisition Processes.
- Expertise in specific technical areas
- Experience of this and other organisation’s development & manufacturing processes and vision.
- Sound technical understanding of Complex Weapons and Weapon Subsystems.
