MASS Appointed Strategic IT and Business Partner for North Lincolnshire Council

July 2013

MASS, a Cohort plc company, has been appointed as the strategic information technology (IT) and business partner to the North Lincolnshire Council (NLC).  For the next three years, MASS will support the Council with a range of technical consultancy services, strategic and business advice as well as on-demand support.  This support will enable NLC to improve efficiency, reduce costs and facilitate growth as it delivers IT services to other organisations on a commercial basis.

MASS is being put to work straight away on two projects: undertaking a software rationalisation project and analysis of requirements for an electronic document management system.

The Company has also supported the Council at its first event to promote the Northern Lincolnshire Broadband programme, held on 23 May at the Baths Hall, Scunthorpe. This event equipped small to medium sized enterprises with the knowledge they needed to embrace North Lincolnshire’s Superfast Broadband.

MASS is also involved with NLC as the IT partner for seven schools under the Building Schools for the Future programme.

Ashley Lane, Managing Director of MASS, said “Our on-going work as NLC’s IT partner on the Building Schools for the Future programme has enabled us to demonstrate our reputation as a proven, reliable and trusted local company. We look forward with great enthusiasm to helping the Council meet its planned improvements and in its aim to develop a commercial arm.”

Cllr Neil Poole, cabinet member for Policy and Resources at North Lincolnshire Council, said “The opportunity for leading edge IT companies to work with North Lincolnshire Council attracted national interest. MASS were selected following a competitive exercise given their proven ability and track record for delivering transformational improvements. I am looking forward to the council working with MASS as part of this innovative partnership. Their expertise will help us to transform our services locally in terms of improved efficiency, access and quality, as well as support us in our drive for developing new sources of income through commercial arrangements which will help to reduce the burden on local council tax payers."
