An East Anglian-based defence technology company has been recognised for its achievements by being selected as a winner of the 2016 Queen's Award for Enterprise - the UK's highest accolade for business success.
MASS, which is located at St. Neots, near Cambridge, was awarded the honour for its innovative work in Electronic Warfare Operational Support, cyber security and secure ICT networks. The company carries out business for customers primarily in defence and security markets.
It is the first time that MASS, part of Cohort plc, has won a Queen's Award and is recognition of its work for overseas customers, as well as the Ministry of Defence and other Government departments.
The company reported an increase of 18 per cent in revenues to £32.5 million in 2015, with adjusted operating profit up by ten per cent. A significant contributor to the increase in revenue was MASS' work in export electronic warfare operational support, particularly the Middle East.
Some 275 people, including operational and technical experts, academics, engineers, technologists and support staff are employed at facilities in St. Neots, Lincoln and at customer locations across the UK.
Managing Director Ashley Lane commented: "This prestigious award recognizes the success of our skilled and committed personnel in growing our business at home and overseas. The help we give customers to fulfil their defence and security needs has enabled MASS to achieve significant growth and we are committed to expanding the business by continuing to develop innovative solutions that enable us to remain at the forefront of technology."
