Engineering Education in Lincoln

MASS, a specialist high technology and Cohort plc company, has been chosen to provide the information, communication and technology (ICT) solution to Lincoln University Technical College (UTC).  Developed in partnership with the University of Lincoln and Lincoln College, Lincoln UTC will open in September 2014 and will provide its students with a world-class education and high quality learning opportunities and experiences.

MASS, a Lincoln-based company, was deemed a natural choice to provide the ICT solution, which will make use of real-world business approaches and integrate the latest technology.  Uniquely, and directly supporting the college’s curriculum, MASS will provide engineering projects and the students will also have an opportunity to undertake ‘work inspiration’ placements.  In line with the company’s partnering ethos, Lincoln UTC recently held a series of open evenings at the local MASS training facilities to attract students interested in science, engineering and mathematics.

Dr Rona Mackenzie, of Lincoln UTC, said “At Lincoln UTC we will provide a unique learning environment for our students.  Our curriculum has been specifically designed to develop the employability and life skills of our students to ensure they are adequately prepared for the world of work.  We chose MASS to help us be at the cutting edge of technology.  They also come with a strong reputation in secure ICT which is essential to us as we wish to ensure that our students are protected as well as their information.”

Ashley Lane, Managing Director of MASS, said “We have a proud engineering history and look forward to supporting the engineering curriculum at Lincoln UTC.  Our experience in the provision of secure systems to both public and business customers will ensure that the solution underpins the importance the UTC has placed on ICT.”
