MASS is delighted to announce that it has received the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award for its commitment and support to defence and the armed forces community.
The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme encourages employers to support defence and inspire others to do the same. An employer must be nominated to receive the award and be a signatory to the armed forces covenant. Nominations are validated to determine the scale of support given to defence personnel and the numbers employed. Those put forward are considered by a selection board, chaired by a senior military officer, who reviews each nomination against the award criteria.
A third of MASS's 275 staff are ex-military or Reservists. This provides an excellent second career for the ex-military and ongoing support for current Reservists. As well as demonstrable commitment and loyalty, these people bring technical skills as well as leadership, teamwork and a 'can-do' approach. Their employment enables MASS to benefit from the transferable skills and operational experience they bring, which helps us to support our customers more effectively.
Ashley Lane, Managing Director of MASS, said "It is because of the importance that ex-military personnel and Reservists play in MASS, that we were one of the first signatories to the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant. The Silver Award recognises the investment we make and the support for our staff, and will encourage our people to continue and do more. I also hope it encourages other employers to realise the benefits that ex-military staff can bring to their own enterprises."
