MASS, alongside its partners Hadean and ST Engineering Antycip, has successfully demonstrated its next generation training capability to the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) Integrated Warfare Centre (IWC).

Held at MASS’ Enterprise House, the event gave key stakeholders from the IWC an in-depth look at the innovative technologies being integrated into the training solution for the Joint Command & Staff Training (JCAST) contract extension. The demonstration marks the completion of the second stage of a six-month journey which will result in a step-change in the MOD’s operational-level HQ training capability from October 2025.

The day was centered around two core elements: a series of presentations sharing insight into the latest simulation and training technologies, followed by a live demonstration where participants could interact and experience the state-of-the-art exercise support capability.

Bringing together ST Engineering Antycip’s VR-Forces¹ technology to simulate traditional military effects and Hadean’s AI-assisted crisis scenario generation with MASS’ training expertise and experience, the training solution will deliver a significantly enhanced synthetic environment. The result is a comprehensive, immersive training environment designed to support a ‘train as you operate’ model, ensuring personnel are fully prepared for today’s complex and fast-evolving Defence landscape.

Mark Maddick, Head of Delivery at MASS said, “The demonstration signaled a key milestone in our mission to integrate the latest AI and simulation technologies with our training expertise to deliver a truly modern and future-focused training solution to the UK MOD.

Modern warfare operations are integrated with digital developments and AI has the potential to significantly enhance the Integrated Warfare Centre’s training support. By combining the latest innovations across the industry with MASS’ expertise and experience in planning and delivering realistic military training scenarios, we can provide a blended training approach that mirrors the complexities of the operational environment. This will shape the future of defence training to ensure participants are prepared for the full spectrum of potential deployments.”

A UK MOD attendee shared, “This partnership presents a genuinely exciting opportunity for the future, with potential for real improvements to our current ways of working.”

The success of the demonstration will support further integration of the latest simulation features to continue to build on the training capability ahead of its launch in October.

Michael Gunadi, Vice President Sales at Hadean added, “Our partnership with MASS clearly demonstrates the potential of AI to provide an accurate and immersive training experience. By leveraging the latest technologies, together we can deliver more effective training to enhance operational readiness and ensure personnel are prepared for real-world deployments.”

Colin Chester, Business Development at ST Engineering Antycip said, “The modern battlefield is increasingly complex, and through the VR-Forces technology, we’re able to help prepare personnel through realistic scenarios and simulations. This new training capability will deliver immersive environments that truly reflect the challenges and nuances of today’s defence landscape.”
