Why work for MASS?

Learning and development

If you’re interested in building a career, you’ve come to the right place. At MASS, we believe in developing skills that are future proof.

We offer every employee a LinkedIn Learning account which gives access to thousands of learning materials. If you’re interested in tech-specific skill development, we can give you access to two leading technology learning sites.

Every year we offer training and development based on what’s right for you, from on-the-job secondments to academic and professional qualifications. It’s not just technical skills though; we offer personal skills development through our graduate scheme, specialised people manager training and the Cohort Leadership development programme.

We’ve recently launched our fully funded degree apprenticeships in ICT. Due to its popularity we’re growing and extending the scheme and look forward to supporting even more people who are starting out in their career.

Our culture

MASS is made up of friendly and committed people who care about what they do. We work together to find the right solutions for our customers and we support each other along the way.

Our four values of collaboration, respect, innovation and excellence are reflected in everything we do; from the decisions we make to how we’re rewarded.

We believe in offering a diverse and inclusive workplace where people are free to be themselves. But we can always improve, which is why we actively welcome applications from those groups underrepresented in defence and technology such as women, people from minority ethnic backgrounds and the LGBTQIA+ community.

At MASS, your wellbeing is important. We have a confidential employee assistance programme available to all and we offer a hybrid working environment, giving people flexibility over where they work. Many of our employee benefits support a healthy lifestyle, from gym membership to our cycle to work scheme.

Life isn’t just about work though; we’re also keen to have fun. We have annual social events and you’ll often find us raising money for charity, whether it’s a bake sale or a charity marathon.

Our people are what makes MASS great; why not become one of them?

Apprenticeships

A MASS Apprenticeship is the first step in building your career around a subject you love, working alongside like-minded people to make a difference.

When you start an apprenticeship with us you earn a salary from day one, gain a formally recognised qualification and build vital on-the-job experience without building up university debts.

We currently offer apprenticeships in technology, facilities management and HR and we hope to extend the scheme to other areas soon. Our apprenticeships are open to everyone, whether you’re just starting out or are looking for a change in career and we welcome applicants of all ages.

There are four levels to apprenticeships:

Intermediate - An intermediate apprenticeship is equivalent to five good GCSE passes. The apprentice work towards level 2 certificates or work-based learning qualifications. These provide the skills required for the apprentice’s chosen career and allow entry to an advanced apprenticeship.

Advanced - An advanced apprenticeship is equivalent to two A Level passes. Advanced apprentices can work towards level 3 work-based learning certificates or qualifications such as a BTEC. To start advanced apprenticeship programme, the applicant should ideally have five GCSEs at grade 4 (formerly grade C) or above or have completed an intermediate apprenticeship.

Higher - Higher apprenticeships work towards level 4, 5, 6 or 7 work-based learning diplomas or certificates or knowledge-based qualifications such as Foundation degrees or above. Apprentices can also progress to higher education, including university degrees.

Degree - Degree apprenticeships sit on level 6 or 7. Like the other levels they combine paid work with study in the university and lead to bachelor’s or master’s degree. Universities generally set the entry requirement for a degree apprenticeship at least level 3, for instance A Levels.

If an apprenticeship with MASS sounds like the right choice for you, email contact@mass.co.uk for details.

Associate Scheme

Our associates are independent consultants with recognised expertise or domain knowledge in specific areas. Associates can provide in-depth subject matter expertise, or skills that are complementary to those of our in-house team. This enables us to operate flexibly and to undertake a broader range of work than we otherwise could. We also make use of associates for writing and reviewing bid documentation. If you believe you could be of assistance to us in this way, we would be very pleased to hear from you.

When specific assignments are identified, we will contact you to discuss your interest, suitability and availability. We may also ask for further information at that time. We will not use your name or CV in any proposal without your prior consent.

Become an Associate

To register your interest, please send an email clearly stating how you would like to help us, together with your CV and contact details to recruitment@mass.co.uk.
