Leadership Team

Andrew graduated from Imperial College, London in 1987 with a Master of Engineering degree in Electronic Engineering and Management Science. He joined the Ministry of Defence as a fast stream technology specialist, spending the early part of his career on the directed energy weapons research programme at the Royal Signals and Radar Establishment, Malvern.

Subsequently, he held a project management role, acquiring special electronic warfare equipment for counter-terrorism use, and was a scientific adviser to the UK defence staff on land warfare matters. In 1996, Andrew joined Alvis plc in a role covering strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and business development. Following the BAE Systems’ takeover of Alvis, he created Cohort plc with Nick Prest and Stanley Carter.

In May 2007, Andrew was appointed Managing Director of MASS and he re-joined the Cohort board, succeeding Stanley Carter as Chief Executive two years later. He remains on the MASS board.

After graduating with a BSc from University College, London, Simon went on to qualify as a chartered accountant with Touche Ross in 1992. He moved to the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company (P&O) in 1993 – he was appointed a chief accountant for P&O European Ferries in 1995.

Two years later, he was appointed Group Financial Controller at Alvis, going on to join Cohort as Finance Director in May 2006, bringing considerable industry experience acquired at Alvis and BAE Systems.

Keith graduated from Brunel University with a First Class BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and since then has built a successful career spanning government, commercial telecommunications, IT and defence sectors.

Prior to joining MASS in 2025, he worked in senior leadership roles within large Defence Primes and SMEs, working at strategic, programme, technical and operational levels to successfully deliver significant business growth.

Ed has a career in leading complex defence science and technology programmes.  Graduating with an aerospace engineering degree he initially joined the defence evaluation and research agency specialising in complex weapons, specifically lethality and vulnerability of airborne systems.

During the following decade in QinetiQ Ed supported all services, spent time embedded in DE&S and collaborated with all the major defence primes, including the Atomic Weapons Establishment. Joining AWE he held a number of high profile roles in systems engineering, strategy, and senior leadership ultimately integrating and overseeing the delivery of the whole programme.

Ed has also held senior leadership roles in construction and is the Chair of Governors for an independent preparatory school.  He has an MBA and a Chartered Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.

William graduated from Brunel University with a degree in Business and Management and has since then achieved a strong track record and wealth of diverse experience of driving business growth in defence, security and cyber markets. William has held a variety of customer facing roles in SMEs, Integrators, Primes and his own businesses. He has also held a 2 year tenure as Chair at ADS Group of the Security Export Focus Group. William heads up our Business Development, Sales and Key Account Management teams at MASS.

Michelle started her career at a large technology company where she stayed for 10 years and gained her MCIPD. On relocating to Cambridgeshire, she moved into HR managerial roles, which included the pharmaceutical, and benefits and rewards industries. During this time, she returned to college to gain her CMI.

In July 2014 Michelle joined MASS as HR Manager, and in 2016, moved into the role of Head of HR.

Having graduated with a BSc in Biochemistry, Neil qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG, initially working in the public sector practice before moving to financial services division.
Post qualification he worked within the financial services sector in a variety of roles before moving into senior financial positions within the services sector, where he gained significant experience in UK, European and U.S business activities.

Most recently Neil was Finance Director of a leading marketing technology business where he was responsible for leading the company through a significant turnaround plan and for establishing and developing the pan-European growth plans.

Neil joined MASS as Finance Director in May 2021.

Tara spent 20 years in the RAF working across the armaments, transport, and air movements specialisms supporting operations worldwide before taking up her final post as the deputy head of RAF Heritage charged with the responsibility of safeguarding the historic aircraft, fine art, and silver collections for future generations.  On leaving the RAF she moved to a role in the fast-paced world of Amazon Operations and spent 3 years living the Amazon mantra of ‘work hard, make history and have fun’ where every day is Day One.  Following a 6-month career break Tara joined MASS in 2019 into the newly created role of Head of Delivery for Strategic Systems and then moved into the Group Head role in April 2025.

Having previously worked in education, local government and technical training, Jack joined MASS in 2006 in an IT role for the then new Lincoln office. He has since performed a number of roles in the business, gaining exposure to all aspects of work the company does and its supporting functions.

Jack took up the role of CIO in 2016, having previously joined the management team in 2012.

Steve had a successful 31-year career in the Royal Air Force, initially as a Tornado pilot and, subsequently, instructing on Tucano, Bulldog, Jetstream, Tutor and King Air aircraft. His postings included Deputy Director Strategy, Combined Air Operations Centre, Al Udeid, Qatar; Station Commander RAF Cranwell and Officer Commanding No 3 Flying Training School; DACOS J7, Permanent Joint HQ; Senior Adviser to the Iraqi Air Force; and Chief of Staff, No 22 (Training) Group.

Having left the Service, he joined SCS to run the contracts at Northwood with Joint Forces Command and the EU Operational HQ. Steve was then promoted to Head of Training Support Group and became part of the successful transition of the Group from SCS to MASS in 2016.

Steve continues to be the Group Head of Training Support at MASS.
